
By now you’ve probably driven by the Honolulu Design Center along Kapiolani Boulevard, which opened earlier this year, or at least took note of the “big tangerine-colored building.” Perhaps you’ve even perused the 80,000 square feet of luxurious home and office furnishings or dined in at Stage, the Center’s eclectic take on a fine dining restaurant. What you probably haven’t noticed are the oodles of technological innovation and products that tick like clockwork, behind the scenes, that render the Honolulu Design Center as one of Honolulu’s most modern and innovative buildings.
“At 80,000 square feet, some level of ‘automation’ was almost necessary to maintain a reasonable level of utilities and communication,” says Honolulu Design Center’s owner, Thomas Sorenson.
